Here, I ask you guys if there's any technologies that I can add to Space Era. They can be anything, from starship technologies, to planetary improvements. I may already have some that you come up with, I haven't finished my technology write up yet. If you can think of any, add a brief description, and whether or not they come from an established setting (i.e. Star Trek, et al). Any suggestions are welcome, and if I can integrate them into the systems I use, I will likely add them Smile

I've added new rules for improved automation, thus reducing crew compliments. I probably won't redo any previously-created starships to add this, instead it will be a new technology for later development. There are 5 levels of automation, and the cost is determined by the starship's overall mass and the technology level.

Well yes, I was also thinking that kind of system that was used in Star Trek Enterprise, the Romulan drone ship the NX-01 faced off against.

I was thinking maybe I could figure out how to use the Expanding Sphere Generator of the Lyrans, from Starfleet Battles. I just can't find anything on it's range. Maybe have it as a short-range "weapon". I don't know if you know what it is. I think it is some sort of energy field that is "fired" by the ship, and creates a bubble which disrupts torpedo fire and inflicts damage on any ships in range.

Well,I have conversions from various science fiction universes into Space Era rules, so I can enact battles between a multitude of fleets, and also because then I can set up game scenarios based on the various universes. I plan to add the Hydrans, Lyrans, and Kzinti to the Star Trek lot. The Kzinti in particular will be whatever I come up with, but I have a little more information to work with for the Hydrans and Lyrans.

Of course, just tell me the following:

Race name
- Not something stupid, LOL.  Can be anything.
Sample Ship Class Names
- So I can extrapolate other names for the other classes.  You can put what the names mean, it's up
- to you.  For example, you could have the Inkelda-class and say it means Dagger, or the
- Yinto-class named after a famous explorer.
General Technology Level
- The average technology level for a secondary power is Generation 8 - 10. Major powers tend to be 10 - 12, or in
- the case of the Commonwealth and the Rokal'Kvor, Generation 13. Generation 15 as a maximum (to fit in with -
- the rest of the multiverse. Minor powers are usually between Generation 4 and 8, with a handful lower.
Design Philosophy
- Weapons bias, shield bias, speed bias, or maneuverability bias.  For example, if you tell me they have a
- shield bias, I shall dedicate a larger portion of their space to the shields, if you tell me
- maneuverability bias, I will make their ships slightly more maneuverable than equivalent ships of
- other races, for example most Battlecruisers have a maneuverability of 8 - 9, but a Battlecruiser
- with a maneuverability bias might have one of 10 - 12.  The average hyperdrive speed is HV 6, so a ship with a -
- speed bias will be 7 - 9. Obviously, if there is a bias somewhere, other areas are weaker.  You can specify -
- weaker areas if you like, because the more information, the better.
Armour Type and Bias
- Can be Composite branch, Ablative branch (has Composite as a prerequisite), Crystalline branch,
- or Biological branch.  Also, do they have weak, medium, or heavy armour.  This is just a rough
- estimate.  Smaller ships generally have weaker armour, but some races only lightly armour all
- their ships, using the excess space for weapons, shields, engines, etc.

I already have the possibility of created Phased torpedoes, thus allowing them to pass through shields.  They haven't been developed by any race yet, but the possibility is there.

I am thinking, should I add a possibility of creating Phased beam weapons (not pulse weapons)?

And if so, maybe I should allow a development of "hardened shields", which are more effective against Phased weapons? Hmmm...

These are all future technologies, currently undeveloped by any power.
