| I started Space Era as a kid, playing with Lego starships. My first alien enemy was the Armonian Cabal, they were extremely aggressive and often attacked Human starships, and it culminated in a massive battle at a starbase (a kickstool) between a fleet of Human Alliance ships and an Armonian fleet.
The Armonians were later conquered by the Kangarian Empire, who were a marsupial canine species, and became the next major threat to Humanity.
Humanity isn't called the Human Alliance any more. In fact, there have been about a dozen names for the Human sphere of influence, but the modern setting has them as a member of the Commonwealth of Planets, which has half a dozen member species, but Humans are the primary species.
I don't use the Armonians in Space Era any more, or the Kangarians for that matter. Many of my early species aren't in use any more. Though I am thinking of reinventing the Kangarians, they will just be in a different region (no longer near Human space), and the Armonians will likely be either a rival state, or a subject species (conquered).

| I originally did it on with pen and paper. I had dozens of writing pads and folders. My Dad was always annoyed about me having paper everywhere, but it never stopped me. I didn't start with the computer until I bought my first PC at the age of 18. | |

| My Nan destroyed a lot of my stuff when I moved away to Scotland, because she is a horrible person. She destroyed a lot of stuff, perhaps Space Era would be very different if she hadn't, or if I hadn't moved to Scotland, but I am very pleased with how it is today, and I will never let anyone destroy it again. I lost years of work, all because I went against what she wanted. | |

| What is meant by Armour, there seems to be so many types of Armour, biological, scientific, nuclear and many more, what does it all mean? | |

| Basically, there are five branches of armour technology:
Standard Composite / High Density Armour: Simplest armour, just hardened material on the hull of a starship. This is the largest branch of armour technology.
Ablative Armour: Along with providing standard defence to the hull, Ablative armour also negates some weapons fire. For instance, if it negates 15% of damage (as it is for Class-1 Ablative Armour), then a weapon with a yield of 1,000 that hits the ships will only cause 850 damage. The more advanced Ablative Armour have regenerative abilities too (they can automatically repair some of the damage taken during battle. Ablative Armour cannot be developed until after the development of High Density Armour, which is a prerequisite.
Crystalline Armour: Has enhanced damage negation properties, far higher than Ablative Armour, but slightly weaker in actual damage it can sustain. Crystalline Armour has no prerequisites, it can be researched from Pre-Hyperdrive Era.
Biological Armour: Has enhanced regenerative properties, and higher levels have damage negation properties too. As with Crystalline Armour, Biological Armour has no prerequisite, and can be developed from the Pre-Hyperdrive Era.
Neutronium: Extremely advanced armour technology. Neutronium is extremely dense, and can sustain substantial damage, and has extremely high damage negation properties. No race in Space Era currently has Neutronium Armour.
